Early Trial Results
Prime lambs in feedlots were trialled in Nov. 2006.
Feed and conditions were identical for the trial and control groups of lambs. The genetics of the lambs were also very similar.
Group 1 had access to Minrosa Himalayan M.R.S. and loose lime.
Group 2 had access to loose common salt and loose lime.
Findings: After 3 weeks there was a 18% greater live weight increase in the group 1 lambs that had access to the mineral rock salt.
The cost of both supplements was 2 cents per head per day but there was far more wastage and dirt/faeces contamination with group 2 on the loose common salt mix.
Trials are ongoing.
